We live in a time where everything that used to have value is now being watered down whether it’s people’s rights, lives, dignity, testimonies, etc. And what’s even sadder is that we have reached a point now where we even try to water down God and His power, the One who created us, which implies that we have completely gone insane. However, the God, who sits on His throne and is the Rock of Ages, knew we were going to reach that point that’s why the Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:5 “People will have a form of godliness but denies its power.”
When we say God can do whatever He wants, whenever He wants, and use whomever He wants, it is such a powerful statement. However, do we truly believe what we say, or do we say it simply because it sounds good? Therefore, let us look at multiple pieces of evidence that reveal God’s unlimited power.
First, let us consider the nature of God. In the beginning, was God, so we know God to be the Creator of all things which also means He can do all things. We also know God to be Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent because He has proven to be all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. We know Him to be the Alpha and Omega because He has proven to be the First and the Last. Here in Exodus 3:14, we read: “God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM’, and He said, ‘Say this to the people of Israel; I AM has sent you.’” In other words, God was telling Moses ‘I’ just ‘AM’, and the rest of it you will have to fill in the blank as we go. The last time I checked, Moses couldn’t finish filling in the blank of who God is and you and I are still unable to fill in the blank of who He is; the truth is none of us will be able to fill in the blank of who God is because none of us can figure Him out. Therefore, it is pointless to put God in a box.
Now, let us look at what God has done in the past, particularly in the Old Testament. God has not left us completely in the dark about Who He is. He has given us plenty of clues about who He is. One of the things He made clear to us is that He is an unchangeable God, which means the same power and authority He had since the beginning is the same power He has today and will have tomorrow.
For instance, when we look at all the stories in the Old Testament where God has miraculously intervened for His people, we can see His Mighty hand throughout; to name a few we have: the ten plagues that He sent to Egypt and parted the Red Sea for the Israelites. Also, during a drought, God provided for Elijah by sending ravens to feed him twice daily. Through the power of God, Elijah resurrected a widow’s son, and under the authority of God, he also closed the heavens causing a drought on the land that lasted three and a half years. There are countless miracles that God has done in the past in the Old Testament, all of them were a way for God to tell us that when it comes to Him we need to remain at the edge of our seats because He can blow our minds anytime since we have no idea who He is going to use and what He’s going to do to intervene in our lives.
Let’s look at what God has done in the New Testament. God the Son, came into this world and took on human nature through the Holy Spirit. And while Jesus walked this earth, He ate, He was tired, He slept, He prayed, He cried; and as a side note, I’m glad He came as a human being and not as an angel or any other way because if He had come in any other way, we would have taken Jesus’ sacrifice as a fiction story. And the same Jesus who came as a human being was able to do many miraculous things that left humanity utterly dumbfounded such as walking on water, healing all the sick naturally and supernaturally, sending Peter to get money out of a fish’s mouth, and resurrecting the dead. So, Jesus reconfirmed that He can do anything because He is limitless and forever will be.
Therefore, when we consider all these pieces of evidence and countless others about the unlimited power of God, the question we need to ask ourselves is: why do we still limit Him? Why do we believe that we must put Him in a box by thinking He must intervene in a certain way to be God? Why can’t we accept that God can talk to us in a dream or a vision? And why is it so hard to believe that God can perform a miracle in our lives, heal our loved ones, and save our marriage and children no matter how dead the situation may look?
I think if many people can still believe in Santa Claus so much so that they even get their kids to imagine that he came down the chimney to visit their home even when they know they were the ones who wrapped up the Christmas gifts then why can’t we believe that we can have an encounter with the Almighty God who is indeed real?
When we invite God into our lives, we must be ready and expect Him to intervene in ways that may not even make sense. He can come through either naturally, supernaturally, or both. We must learn to be unlimited in our thinking when dealing with God because we are serving a Mighty God who knows no limit.
