A few days ago, I posted a blog where I mentioned that at times, the Lord would have us remain silent for a while. However, in this blog, I will discuss the time when one cannot remain silent. You may think this is contradictory, or even question whether God goes against His own word at times. The truth is, God is very strategic in the way He moves, and Scripture tells us that “For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).
For example, I used to think that there was a perfect time to talk with others about God, and I used to think that it was best to wait until all testimonies were lined up to testify. And now, looking back, I realized that moment never came. In fact, I realized that most of the time I had to share the word of God with someone else during painful seasons. I have also discovered that as I was testifying about what God has done in my life, other testimonies were already in the making. This also means that I was testifying while going through much pain, which will then result in testimonies as well. I find comfort in my sufferings because they reveal that God is not done with me yet.
Jesus told the Pharisees that if His disciples kept quiet, the stones would cry out (Luke 19:39-40). Someone may wonder why Jesus would use stones in His illustration. After all, can rocks speak?
There are two ways we can look at that verse. We can say that Jesus was trying to tell the Pharisees that the disciples had known and seen so much about Him; therefore, they cannot remain silent. I believe Jesus is probably saying the same thing concerning many of us today. When we reflect on all that God has done for us, we cannot dare stay silent. Considering the many times you didn’t see a way, He made a way. When the doctor said that you wouldn’t make it, you are still here. When others said your kids wouldn’t make it, yet they are still here and are becoming better versions of themselves. The times when you didn’t have a way to feed them, yet money came in unexpectedly. All the car accidents that should have happened, but didn’t happen, and the list goes on and on… You can clearly see God’s hands moving in your life and in the lives of your loved ones. God has done so much for you and me that the end of the year is not enough to list all that He has done and to thank Him for them all.
You have survived and witnessed so much that you can no longer remain silent when your friends, cousins, or even your co-worker tells you about their faith in Buddha, Mammon, or other false gods. Although these false gods have no power, some people are very proud when they talk about them. Thus, why should we be shy or quiet about our Mighty and true God and all the wonderful things He has done in our lives? Pastor David Guzik stated in one of his study guides, “We can’t live a life of denial and expect God to recognize us.” He also stated that “There are situations where God may have us be reticent about our Christian identity- not for the purposes of permanently concealing it but waiting for the opportune moment to reveal it.”
Thus, once we believe that the real God is our God, the One that we experience every day, and the One who protects our loved ones, we need to speak up. Otherwise, the rocks will indeed cry out in our stead.
When we look at Luke 19:39-40, we can also say that Jesus tells us a little more about nature in this text. Ever since sin entered the world, it seems like everything is coming to an end or has an expiration date. For instance, a plant didn’t know what a cursed ground was until after the fall. Scripture says in Romans 8:20-21, “For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.” So, if the things God created experience death, that means they also experience life. Although God created human beings differently from any other creatures, they all have life. Let’s consider a plant, for example. A plant needs water, air, sunlight, nutrients, good soil, and space to grow. Plants go through growing seasons as well as challenging ones, and they can also die. So, if they experience death, they also experience life. This also applies to other things in nature. For instance, Jesus said to the tree in Mark 11:14, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” Now, why would Jesus talk to a tree in the first place if trees have no ears? I have learned that when we glorify God and align ourselves with His purpose for our lives, nature rejoices and does the same thing too. Have you ever noticed that once you align yourself with the will of God, things start to work out in your life? It is as if to say once you agree with God’s plan for your life, nature aligns itself alongside you in your becoming, like a symphony. The same is true when you are outside of God’s will; it feels as if you are kicking against the goads. Scripture says in Romans 8:19-23, “For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed… we know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to this present time.”
Also, many of us think that ever since sin has entered the world, God has been relentlessly holding a camera to find out who sins so He can punish them. They have forgotten that the consequences of our actions are built in. God set it up that way, and He will not go against His word. However, He gave us a way out through Christ, who showed us how to avoid His wrath. He put the good and the bad before us, or life and death, and He even gave us the cheat sheet and said choose life (which is to do good and treat others right). And when we don’t do what He says, we put ourselves in difficult situations where we have to face the consequences of our actions. And if it wasn’t for God’s mercy through Christ, immediate death would have been our portion because of our sins. Thus, all of us have witnessed God’s love, grace, and mercy so much so that we cannot remain silent and must praise and testify His name, and if we don’t, the rocks, the trees, the oceans will do what we don’t want to do. The Bible also says in Psalm 65:8, “The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.”
We are just a few days away from entering the New Year. Therefore, it is a good time for us to reflect on God’s investments in our lives, especially the ones we’ve witnessed throughout the year 2025. We have the privilege to start the new year with shouts of praise and victory and testify to His goodness.
And if you feel so distant from Him, one of the best ways to draw near Him is to start testifying to His goodness. Talk to anyone about Him, even to a friendly stranger at the store, and share a short, precise testimony of what God has done for you. The more you testify, the closer you draw near Him. And the more you testify, the more testimonies you experience. I must admit that when God is building a testimony in your life, it never feels like a testimony during the process, but it will bring you joy at the end.
One may say, “Well, I don’t have much to say about God, because I have only experienced Him once in my life.” I think it is impossible, because the fact that you can go out and come back home to your family safely every day, that alone is a testimony. However, if you feel like you only have one testimony or an encounter with the Lord, then let it sound like a broken record and share it over and over again until He gives you the next one.
My prayer for you is that you finish the Year proclaiming Jesus and His Kingdom. Also, begin the New Year proclaiming His Name and His Kingdom!!! You won’t regret it!!!
Happy New Year 2026!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
