TESTIMONY
Back in 2011, I remember that day around mid-morning, I was very sad but couldn’t really explain why I felt that way. Although life was hard for me back then, that spirit of heaviness came upon me that day and I couldn’t shake it off. It felt strange, so I sat on the ground trying to process what I was going through. Then I heard my phone ring. As I picked up the phone, I heard in my spirit these words echoing clearly “Do Not Go!” I was confused, I couldn’t make sense of the words I’d heard. I thought I was talking to myself until my two friends started talking on the other end. They invited me to go window shopping with them, and one of them was pregnant. I am not much of an outdoor person but sometimes we would go to the mall just walking around doing nothing. I didn’t know anything about God having a purpose for my life, and that I must live life intentionally. I didn’t know any of that nor did it even cross my mind. And when I go out with my friends, we usually have assigned seats in the car. Since I was the youngest, I was always in the back seat.
As for me, this day was the best time for me to say yes to my friends’ invitation because it was the perfect opportunity to shake off that spirit of heaviness. However, from God’s perspective, it was the best time to refuse their invitation. So, I told my friends I didn’t want to go. Then, they started to criticize me for saying no. They told me that’s why I am like this, that’s why I’m like that and that’s why I have a hard time finding a boyfriend, etc. The enemy was trying to make me feel bad and intimidated by what they said so I could change my mind about my decision. And as they were talking, I kept hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit saying, “Don’t Go!” even though I didn’t fully know it was Him talking to me back then. So, I resisted my friends’ criticisms though I did not expect that kind of response from them and their criticisms were the last things I wanted to hear that day. And when our conversation was over, we hung up the phone. I lay down on my bed and fell asleep.
About an hour and a half later, I woke up and noticed a missed call from my friend. And when I called her back, she told me that they were in the hospital because they got into a terrible car accident and their car was a total loss. She told me that while they were on a major road and came to a sudden stop, a trailer ran into their small car and smashed the back seats of their car towards the front seats. The other friend had a dislocated disc and had all kinds of tests done to make sure that she and her baby were okay. Thank God the baby was fine, but both of my friends had to see a chiropractor and go to therapy for months. I was so disturbed by the news while on the phone with her that my hands and feet got cold.
I also realized how God saved me that day from being paralyzed and even from death. My friend also told me if I had been in the car with them, I would have died or lost my legs because the vehicle was a total loss. That’s when I burst into tears and told her how God saved me from premature death and praised God not only for my life but theirs as well. If it had not been for the grace of God, it would have been a totally different story. Therefore, I am forever grateful to God for saving our lives.
I hope this testimony will help you understand that God is always in your best interest. He may not give you all the details as to why He says what He says but rest assured that He is for you and not against you.
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17: 7-8
God Bless You!
